Dispute Resolution Process Submission From: James Clark on behalf of WebAddress Received: 23 February 2005 In the last eight months while working at WebAddress there have been no disputes. Prior to working for WebAddress I worked for another ISP/Registrar and there were no disputes there either. We are also curious as to what is causing these apparent disputes, is it the registration of trademarked (etc) domain names or disputes arising around the change of ownership of domain names, for example, when businesses change hands) ? Are certain Registrar's worse than others when looked at in disputes per thousand domains? Peter Belt has asked for the problem to be quantified, we support this request. Garth Piesse raises DENICs policy as an alternative for consideration, this should definitely be investigated. We support the status quo and the addition of a nominal fee paid to the DNC by the disputer to discourage nuisance disputes and help recover costs. Involvement of lawyers should be avoided until absolutely necessary, in most cases common sense should prevail before then!
