The SRS WHOIS Server and Specification are available. Please note that there are some differences between this final version and the sample text output published earlier.
A test version of the server is running and may be accessed by the command:
whois -h srstest.catalyst.net.nz dnc.org.nz

The WHOIS server specification will be included in the next version of the RIK (Registrar Implementation Kit) and is available on this site at http://dnc.org.nz/content/srs-whois-spec.html

Some providers access the current .nz WHOIS server through automated processes. To ensure continuity during the cut-over period from the DRS to the SRS, we recommend modifying these processes to detect and handle both formats. This approach will provide independence from the precise timing of the switch between servers.
More information about the production WHOIS server will be provided when it is available, prior to implementation.
