.nz Dispute Resolution Scheme Rules — version 5 now live

In August, we proposed some changes to the .nz Dispute Resolution Scheme Rules. The Scheme Rules have remained largely unchanged since their inception circa 20 years ago, and changes were required to reflect current best practices. The proposed changes were developed taking into account feedback from users of the dispute resolution scheme, to facilitate the outsourcing of the administration of the Scheme, to incorporate a tikanga-based approach to dispute resolution, and to take advantage of technological advancements.

From 20 August 2024 to 19 September 2024, we held a public consultation period for feedback. Based on the feedback, minor amendments were made. Collateral relating to the consultation process, including submissions, is available on our consultations page.

Version 5 of the Scheme Rules come into effect on 1 October 2024.
