UPDATE: 26 September — InternetNZ has granted an extension to accept submissions until Wednesday, 1 October, at 5pm.
InternetNZ is proposing some updates to the .nz Rules that govern .nz domain names, and they’d like your feedback.
- Consultation opens: 1 September 2025
- Consultation closes: 26 September 2025, at 5pm (extension granted to 1 October, 5pm)
The proposed changes include:

Updates to align the language through introducing uniform terms in the .nz Rules and InternetNZ's agreements.

Updates to reflect a new Domain Lock product (a security feature that protects against domain names being transferred or altered without permission).

Amendments to enhance the accuracy of data in the .nz Register of domain names.
