Policy Reviews - Dispute Resolution Service Policy, Disputes and Complaints Policy, Investigations and Inquiries Policy

As part of the ongoing review of .nz policies, three policies are now being reviewed.

The policies being reviewed are:

Dispute Resolution Service (DRS)

This policy details the process that people can follow if they wish to make a complaint about the registration of a .nz domain name that they view as being unfair. The current policy can be seen at http://dnc.org.nz/content/drs.html.

This policy has recently been updated http://dnc.org.nz/content/approved_drs_21_mar_2014.pdf to incorporate aspects related to the implementation of the registration of .nz names at the second level. This is now a call for general comments regarding the policy and it’s operation. No operational issues have been identified with the current policy. It is being reviewed as part of the regular, ongoing review of .nz policies.

Disputes and Complaints Policy (DCP) and Investigations and Inquiries Policy (IIP)

These two policies interrelate and it is reasonable to review both at the same time. They have been utilised on a number of occasions when investigating registrars and registrants. The investigations have resulted both from complaints being received, and also proactive work by the DNC Office. The current policies allow sufficient flexibility in approach while still ensuring due process.

The current DCP policy can be seen at http://dnc.org.nz/content/disputescomplaints.html and the current IIP policy can be seen at http://dnc.org.nz/content/investigationsandinquiries.html.

No operational issues have been identified with the current policies. They are being reviewed as part of the regular, ongoing review of .nz policies.
