How to submit a response

If you are involved in a dispute about a .nz registration, and you have been notified of this by the Domain Name Commission, respond to the dispute here.

 

Your response is your chance to present arguments and evidence from your position, focusing on the complaint. 

 

Before you begin your response

Plan your response. 

  • Read all the sections before starting. Here is a preview.
  • Review this list of past expert decisions here. These decisions may help you decide what to include in your response.
  • This is a good time to get professional advice if you want it. This advice is not required for your response.
  • Support your arguments with as much evidence as possible. 
  • Your main response can be up to 2000 words long. We recommend writing this in a MS Word or other text file and saving it, then pasting it into the form.

  • you have to complete the entire form in one session and you cannot save it.
  • you can change your response while you are working, using the Back button.
  • you need to print and sign the completed form. We will send you an email version of your reply when you have finished. You can print and sign this copy.

You should have received a DRS reference number with the notification inviting your response.

Appointing a representative

You may appoint a representative to deal with your case. To do this, select ‘Yes’ below and enter the representative’s information. The Domain Name Commission will then contact your representative about this process.

Respond to the dispute about the domain name(s)

Enter a clear response to the complaint. Your reply should focus on points raised in the complaint. Your response can be up to 2000 words. 

 

The expert will decide based only on what you provide here, including all supporting documents. Do not assume that the expert will do any extra research into your case. 

 

We recommend that you:

  • review our Dispute Resolution Service Policy document and any previous decisions
  • explain your reply in detail
  • note any legal proceedings you have entered relating to this dispute, and the results if you know them
  • provide supporting documents, such as advertising, photographs, invoices, or links to websites
  • write in MS Word or another text program, save it, then copy and paste your argument below.
