Kia ora, my name is Dot. I have put together this guide to explain to you what I do on the DNCL website and how to interact with me.
You can find me on the bottom right corner of every page on this website ready for any questions you might have.
What is a chatbot?
A chatbot is a computer programme that simulates human conversations. When you type a question into the chatbot it will do it’s best to answer your question immediately. Dot is still learning so we are training it as we go but it will do it’s best!
If Dot doesn’t know the answer it will provide you with a contact form, this will be sent to our customer service team, who will respond and follow up with you.
How do I use it?
Simply click on Dot’s icon and it will bring up a window where you can enter your question. Dot can answer a large number of your queries in regards to domains.
When you first click on the icon you will also see a list of common questions.
What is Live Chat?
If Dot is unable to answer your questions or you’d just prefer to chat with a human, just click on ‘Live Chat’. You will find this option at the start of your conversation history with Dot or you can also type ‘I want to speak to someone’ at any time.
Dot will notify the DNCL team and we will do our best to connect to the live chat with you. We try to make ourselves as available as possible, which is usually 9 am - 4 pm on weekdays.
If we don’t join the chat within 3 minutes, just click on ‘leave my details’ and enter in your contact details and message. This will be sent to the DNCL team as an email.
How do I clear chat history?
If you would like to clear your chat history at any time to start a fresh conversation just click on the cog at the top right-hand corner of the chat window and click ‘clear chat history.’
Feedback for Dot
Feedback about Dot is important as it helps us to better tailor our responses to questions that are asked. To provide feedback simply click on the cog at the top right-hand corner of the chat window and click ‘feedback’.
When Dot answers one of your questions you will also be asked to rate its answer as a thumbs up or a thumbs down.
