.iwi.nz Moderation Policy Changes
The .iwi.nz domain name space is for iwi Māori, Hapū and taurahere ropū to be able to identify themselves in the .nz domain name space.
Background:
For the last 22 years, Dr. Karaitiana Taiuru (Ngāi Tahu, Ngāti Kahungunu and Ngāti Toa) has acted as moderator for this domain name space, managing requests for registrations and assisting registrants in this space with their .nz presence.
The Domain Name Commission would like to thank Dr. Taiuru for their work over this period.
In late 2022, Dr. Taiuru made suggestions to the Commission on how we could improve the moderation of this space, and also pass on the knowledge that the moderator holds to other potential leaders to ensure a more resilient moderated .iwi.nz domain name space.
It is proposed that two further moderators be appointed, and a panel of moderators undertakes the moderation of the registrations of the .iwi.nz domain name space in the future.
The moderators will receive remuneration/ retainer for their role as moderators.
